(181) Welcome to Turkey. In Turkey the bad wheather started that is still folowing us still.

(184) 25.10 This guy sitting overthere is Juan Carlos Lizana. He,s 48 and is travelling for 17 (SEVENTEEN) years on his bike which weighs 80 kg. He;s an artist in woodcarving and sometimes stops at a school for a couple of months and does a project there with the children. Doing that he gets some money to continue his journey again. Juan Carlos had many impressive stories to tell us. Have a look at his web-page that is updated by some German friends of his at: http://www.21k.de/lizana/.

(185) We were struggeling with our bikes against a very hard side-wind that we had for three days (turning then into very heavy rain). At a certain point we said: let,s stop here and find some shelter for a while. We stopped and from the other side of the road came Juan Carlos from Chili. He had some punctures he was fixing. We had coffee and fistikli (very nice turkish stuff, tastes like peanutbutter). We spend the rest of the day talking. Then we parted again.

(187) This empty house gave us shelter for the night. In the back you see the Sea of Marmara.

(188) This was a terrible road. What you don,t see is the wind.

(189) 28.10 And then the wind turned into rain. This is how we entered the crazyness of Istanbul.

(190) 29.10 The next day was sunny. First agreable day in Turkey. Istanbul is a big and impressive city with some nice sites. It,s not as oriental as you would expect though.
