Red, Hot & Blues
- Nice and pleasant American place. Cajun, Tex
Mex and Creole kitchen. Live music in the evenings. Medium priced. The best cheesecake in
Prague (also less expensive than in "Sport Bar"). They have great "Daddy
burger" with creole sauce and fries, as well as great "Grilled chicken
sandwich". Brunch on Saturday and Sunday. They had free refill until I once stayed
whole day and drank 20 coffees for the price of one. Jakubska 12, Metro
"Namesti Republiky", behind "KOTVA" department store. Tel. 2314639

Radost FX
- Avoid this popular discotheque if You're not
fan of house and techno. "Radost FX bar" is a bit better, "FX cafe" is
OK, especially if You're vegetarian. It is said that this place is visited (menaing not
bar and cafe but disco only) only by whores, Arabs, gays, junkies and Yugoslavs (meaning
both Croats and Serbs). (I'd add teenagers as well) Nuff Said? On the corner
of "Yugoslavska" and "Belehradska" streets, P2, Metro "I.P.
Pavlova".

Avalon
- Nice and pleasant place with greatest club
sandwich in Prague. Unfortunately, a bit (but only a bit) expensive. Lately they've
started to remind me of those fancy places where You pay a hell of a lot to get a plate
full of grass (anybody likes meat?). Still, nice atmosphere and surroundings, pleasant
waiters and pretty good kitchen. Located at "Mala Strana", Metro
"Malostranska".
|
Lavka
- You have been warned! Stay out of this disco
if You're not a stupid-teenage-spanish tourist. A bit expensive (nothing You'd worry about
for a couple of visits only) menu, drinks moderate priced. The best garden in Prague. Nice
to visit during the day (it is a garden restaurant during day) but to be avoided in the
evening. Located just under the "Charles Bridge". Metro
"Staromestska".
|
Friday's
- Typical american restaurant/bar. A bit
expensive (not for Americans though). "Na Prikope", P1, Metro
"Mustek"
|
Planet Hollywood
|
JO's Bar
- I think the owner is Canadian. Mexican food.
Inexpensive. Don't take Your granparents there. I used to go there a lot, but not anymore.
Located on "Mala Strana", near "Avalon", Metro
"Malostranska".

Little Glen's (U
Maleho Glena)
- Glen used to run "Red Hot and
Blues", but then a couple of years ago he opened his own bar. It's a joke on Czech
pubs, because every other Czech pub is called "At little..." (fox, bear, spider,
etc.), so why not "Little Glen's"? (Also, if You know Glen, then You know he's
not the tallest person in Prague) Inexpensive drinks and food plus live Jazz music very
evening make this place one of my favorites (although I don't go there very often nowdays
because it's across the bridge, to say at least out of the way). Metro
"Malostranska".

Terminal Bar
- Not Your classic idea of a pub, if You're
not computer freak; Not only this place has both PCs and PowerMacs connected to the
internet (one hour costs 80Kc, 1DEM=20Kc), but it also contains a book shop, video rental,
and it's own cinema for up to ten people which You can rent to view films from the video
rental for less than 10USD per film... Highly recomended. http://www.terminal.cz
Metro "Namesti Republiky"

U Fleku
- Try to avoid this place no matter what You
read in the guides. Yes - this is a typical czech pub with it's own brewery (only dark
beer), it exists since 14th century, but what's too much is too much. Well, You could say
it's only my opinion, and You'd probably be right. First of all, the place hasn't been
painted in 6 centuries since it was built; service is slow and inadequate, waiters are
very unpleasant and most important, the prices are outrageous. I mean, I wouldn't care
paying a lot at an expensive pub, but when I do pay I expect the service to be adequate,
meals big and tasty, and surroundings at least pleasant. Which is just not the case in
"U Fleku" no matter how famous this pub is. They seem to want to take all Your
money without giving You any service. That is, probably, why this place is filled with
Germans only, who have a visit to "U Fleku" as a part of their Prague tour. I
don't know the exact adress, but as this place is "a must" for Prague visitors,
I doubt You'll have problems finding it (Near Metro "Narodni Trida").
|
Pivrnec
- Now, this is a place You'd want to visit
instead of "U Fleku". Authentic Czech pub and cousine at moderate prices. Best
"goulash" in town. Great beer. Best "Ovarene koleno" (leg of a pork) I
had. All at reasonable prices. The whole place is painted with humorous comics about
"Pivrnec", the protector of thirsty. A must see if You're in Prague. Meislova
3, P1, Metro "Staromestska".

Klub Architektu/Duta
Hlava (Empty Head)
- Really good restaurant with moderate prices,
a bit hard to find. Near cafe "Gulu Gulu". Betlemske Namesti 5a, P1
Tel. 24401214
|
|
Velryba (Whale)
- One of the best restaurants in Prague -
reasonably priced and always full. European cousine. Metro "Narodni
Trida".
|
|
Kmotra (Godfather)
- The most popular pizzeria in Prague. Always
full. Sometimes You have to wait up to 30 minutes in order to get the table. Moderate
prices, slow service, pretty good pizza, knives not sharp enough. Near
"Velryba". If You don;t find place here, "Velryba is only a block away. Metro
"Narodni Trida".

- Come feel the pain! Be sure not to miss this
pub! Templova 8, P1, Metro "Namesti Republiky", behind
"KOTVA" department store. Tel. 24817505
